Why I joined Rotary:
I joined Rotary because I was becoming very into networking as I started my Real Estate Career.  I was at an event hosted by Rotary and the president Tom Fuszard at the time took the time to tell me what Rotary is and when they meet and what they do.  It seemed very interesting to me and I went to the next meeting and received a free lunch and joined shortly after.  I joined as a way to network and to volunteer time into my community.  I was very interested in helping with the food pantry.

When I knew I became a Rotarian:
The Rotary Club was volunteering their time for the New Berlin Park & Rec Department by making Calhoun Park look better.  When we showed up there were shrubs and bushes and trees growing everywhere.  After about 4 hours of time from 8 volunteers we made the area look beautiful.  The Park & Rec marked the trees they wanted to keep and we left those, but cleaned up the rest.  We added dirt and mulch around the area and the finished product looked amazing.  I knew then and there that I was hooked on helping New Berlin and that it didn't take a ton of time, money or resources to make a big impact.  I live by the philosophy of "not trying to boil the ocean".  Rotary is a great tool for international improvement, but my heart is in my local community as I know that I can make a great impact!  Over the years that I have been a member I have seen our club do tremendous things and know that we would be severely missed if we were gone.
