Passing the gavel to a new president

The rains let up just in time for us to celebrate an annual tradition in Rotary, the Changing of the Guard. Tuesday, June 23rd was an otherwise nice day, so we met at ProHealth Care Park in New Berlin.

Outgoing president Art Angove officially stepped aside as our new president, David Grzesk, assumed the role.

In his remarks, Angove touched on the history of Rotary. The organization started as a networking group 115 years ago in Chicago. Today, Rotary is comprised of 1.2 million people in 35,000 clubs spread around the globe. Rotary is involved in numerous projects large and small. The most noteworthy is the push to eradicate polio -- an achievement which is in sight.

The Rotary Club of New Berlin has been very active since its inception in 1970. You can learn more about those achievements here.

David Grzesk said he is "honored" to serve the club in the coming year. "I enjoy being among a group of like-minded people committed to giving back to the world," he said. We wish David the very best for the coming Rotary year.

Art Angove accepts a plaque recognizing his service as club president. Making the presentation is Rotarian Dianne Moore.

We also took a moment to recognize Rotarian Pat McLaughlin. Pat served as club president immediately prior to Art. Thank you, Pat!

Pat and Art each served two terms, helping to ensure a smooth flow for the club as it faced challenging times.

As a nice cap to our meeting, the sun popped out. Rotarians and family members gathered for a group photo.
